This looks great, I’m a big fan of the Hasbro black series helmets.

Bad Batch was great last season and we’ve just got a trailer and release date of Jan 4 2023. The trailer looks fantastic and if you’ve not watched season 1 yet go now. It looks to run to end of March then Mandalorian S3 will begin in April.

I’ve watched Episode 4 of Andor (I won’t be talking spoilers) and I think it reaffirmed my thoughts that it’s my favourite looking of the shows so far. This lines up I guess given that Rogue One is my favourite looking movie of the Disney era and probably second only to Empire for look and feel. This episode we see two planets (one new and one we are very familiar with) and using real sets instead of the volume is really paying off. I love the continuing trend of going Blade Runner like and it’s as close as I’ll probably see a Denis Villeneuve directed Star Wars universe (please Lucasfilm, get him onboard for a project).

Andor is using title cards for planets, something that I enjoy seeing. At the beginning of the series we start in a Blade runner vibe and at the end of the planet card we see “BBY 5”.
This means Before the Battle of Yavin I.e. the Death Star battle in Episode 4 A New Hope. So Andor is set 5 years before the events of Star Wars Episode 4.

I’m so impressed with the start Andor has gotten off to. The music is particularly great, here’s the link to Apple Music. It’ll update as the series moves along.

Spotted this video showing where Andor fits into the Star Wars timeline and it’s good (even showing a Rogue One clip that didn’t make it into the movie) but doesn’t show us everything. In terms of the main movies it’s set between Episode III and Rogue One, in terms of everything else it’ll be around the time of the Star Wars: rebels animated series.
Set around 5 years before Rogue One and right in the Rebels timelines its got me thinking about cameo’s and I’m thinking we might see Ahsoka given her involvement in the early days of the rebellion. Who knows we might even see some of the Rebels cast but I’m not counting on this one.

I’ve just finished Stranger Things Season 4 and wow what a show. I’ve loved it since the first episode and it’s just gotten better and better.
One thing struck me though comparing it to Star Wars, episode length. Stranger Things isn’t afraid to do over 2 hours an episode. Most were over an hour and it got me thinking that Star Wars is too short.
Obi-Wan I feel could have been more than 30 minutes an episode. I have no idea why some were so short when you get this rich story telling. Book of Boba, the same too short.
Andor I’m hoping is at least 45 minutes an episode.
She-Hulk is perfect at 25-30 minutes and I feel Marvel have been doing it right.
Why doesn’t Star Wars take a leaf out of Stranger Things and give us 1hr 30 minute episodes.

As a kid growing up in the 80’s seeing the classic Kenner Star Wars figures on pegs was just the norm. Even in the little village in South Wales I grew up in we had them. It’s hard to state how big Star Wars was back then and I have fond memories of picking them up.
Nowadays the only range I’ve seen that comes close is The Vintage Collection.
On looking in Smyths it was pure luck that I came across Boba Fett and Bo-Katan, two that were on my wish list.
I’m really impressed with the detail and articulation on these new figures.
I’m now looking at my wish list and adding The Mandalorian and Ashoka. I don’t have the cash to go all in but I’ll certainly be creating a wish list and adding them as I can.
And yes, I am taking them out of the packaging.

I’m not going to go into spoilers but having reflected on the series now it’s done I think it was wrapped up well and gave me pretty much everything I could want. I don’t feel like a second season is needed but I wouldn’t be against it. I’d like more of a focus on Vader though if we got one, his turmoil and constantly in his own head looking at everything that went wrong or was against him. I feel we got the right amount of him in Obi-Wan but I’d love some Clone Wars era flash backs and the inner workings of his mind.
As someone with my own mental health struggles I’ve always related to Anakin in a way and I’d love to see more of this Anakin/Vader story on screen.
I’ve loved The Mandalorian, all of the animated series and most of Boba Fett but for me Obi-Wan is the best Star Wars on TV yet.
What did you think about it?
