How much is too much to pay for a to do app subscription?

I’ve started to drop all of my to do apps and revert to paper to sort some overwhelm out, this was ok but I’ve started to feel that I need actual reminders pop up so that I remember to do the important stuff.

I have my problems with Reminders (the lack of a good macOS app for one) and have been looking at alternatives again. What I’ve come to realise is that paying monthly for a personal to app is hard to justify, especially right now. Paying up to £5 a month is a lot in my view, but each to their own and you need to make your own decisions.

What I’ve settled on is looking at apps that I have already paid for, so that’s Omnifocus and Things 3. I am running them both to figure out what works for me right now.
