Is FaceID still the best way to unlock your smartphone?

FaceID has been around for a number of years now and having recently dipped my toe into Android it’s reinforced how good it still is.

In my experience of both the Nothing Phone and Samsung A52 the in display finger print readers just aren’t ready. It’s one of the reasons I’m not buying my own Google Pixel 7, I don’t like these screen based readers. I feel it take an extra few seconds to remember where to put my finger then if it reads it the first time I’m in. It only does this about half the time, I feel I have to pick and place my finger multiple times to unlock. The new Pixel line does have a form of face unlock that I’d like to test but it’s only for unlock, not payments so doesn’t fill me with confidence.

Switching back to the iPhone as my daily I remembered how quick and seamless FaceID is. I might even go as far as saying it’s better than TouchID, something I’ve missed for years.
