There’s plenty of stories like this one where Google have announced something then just gotten bored and shut it down. I’m a passive Google user, I use Maps and not much else. I do look over at the Pixel or the Nest range of products and get excited about what they might offer, then I read a story like this and remember that they will most likely get bored and shut that down too.

I do feel their pattern of behaviour here has really hurt their reputation.
