Sony showing hubris increases the price of the PS5 in many regions

This might be old news but I wanted to share my thoughts on this bad (IMO) move from Sony. In the middle of a cost of living crisis Sony have decided to raise the price of their flagship console (£30 here in the UK), a move the likes of that I don’t think I have seen from them since the dark days of the PS3. The PS4 launch was great and showed a real focus back on the gamer but with moves this price increase I think Sony might have bitten off more that it can chew here and have priced a lot of people out of a new console.

It’s a competitive market and with the Nintendo Switch and XBOX Series X and S keeping their prices unchanged this could be a move long remembered in this console generation. Both of those manufacturers also have stock available where the PS5 is still almost impossible to get. (I’d recommend a Series X)

Personally I was actually in the market for a PS5 but now I’ve shelved those plans (my PS4 is still going albeit LOUD), I am not supporting this move from Sony.

It’s also a little galling when you see nothing from Sony to help, they could include a free game download or 3 months of PSN membership but no, greed wins.

While this price increase is a necessity given the current global economic environment and its impact on SIE’s business, our top priority continues to be improving the PS5 supply situation so that as many players as possible can experience everything that PS5 offers and what’s still to come.

Yeah, good luck with that – I think you might have lost some sales anyway.
