I’ve been testing out iOS 15 since WWDC and it got me thinking about how much I’ve been using the DuckDuckGo browser.
I was using it before iOS 15 but with the mixed reaction to the changes made by Apple (see MacStories for a great Safari overview) I think more people might start to explore third party options.
My recommendation is of course DuckDuckGo.
It’s got a clean UI with address bar at the top, which nicely disappears when scrolling.
An easy to use navigation section for bookmarks and settings.
A nice UI to see all of the tabs you have open.
Best of all it blocks ads and tracking and clears data on exit. It also receives regular updates and I get the feeling they genuinely care a lot about this app. The only downsides if you’re using multiple machines are no macOS app (but extensions are available) and no iCloud bookmark sync.
