I’ve been job hunting for a couple of months now and I found having the LinkedIn app on my iPhone wasn’t great for mental health. Having it there is a constant reminder of the current state of things.
- You end up looking for jobs the first thing you do in the morning and last thing at night
- It’s a pretty bad iPhone app and the addition of stories just took it to a whole new level of bad
- There isn’t a community on LinkedIn. It’s feed feels fake and manipulative to show you too many recommendations rather than actual updates on your connections
My opinion is that you should keep your LinkedIn job searching on the desktop, away from your most used devices. That way your job searching is done at a planned time, not letting it fall into a habit like checking your timeline in Twitter or seeing what’s going on in Reddit.
Keep your job searches away from your smartphone.
